How to Get Involved with the Potter Street Station
Become a member today!
Join The Saginaw Depot Preservation Corporation
A small yearly fee and a quick document can secure your spot as a SDPC member. These yearly membership fees directly support efforts. You can attend any monthly meeting and submit a membership application in person. We are working on creating a digital optional as well. Outside of financially supporting the station with your membership fee, your membership will grant you access to additional information and opportunities. Members are invited to more events and volunteering opportunities. You will be sent email updates to your preferred email. Some of these updates will be exclusive to members. What we feel is the largest perk of becoming a member is the ability to join member only committees. These committees serve a vital role in our success and progress. They grant a greater ability to make an impact and provide routine opportunities for influence. Below are a few available committees and the mission of each.
Maintenance Committee: led by our Board Maintenance Coordinator, this Committee leads our physical efforts of repairs, upkeep, and restoration. There are sub committees including security and grounds available as well. They meet monthly for a “meet and work” session. They also host additional work days based on availability and need.
Preservation Committee: led by our Board Historian, this committee is working to capture our history through documentation, artifact collection, research, and an oral history project. If you love trains, history, treasure hunts, and a bit of dust, this is the group for you.
Governance Committee: this committee provides guidance to the board for policies and monitors their implementation- such as bylaws and rules of conduct. The members of the committee also review state and federal regulatory requirements to ensure the board and the nonprofit comply with them at all times. The end goal is to ensure the organization's growth and success through good governance.
General Membership meetings are primarily held on the first Tuesday of each month. Check our Facebook for updates on the when and where.
You can attend up to two of our meetings as a guest. We also have a blog on our website with content for you to see what it's like behind the scenes. Want to learn more? Our Facebook page is a great place to start.
